“But when Jesus saw it, he was moved with indignation and said to them, “Allow the little children to come to me! Don’t forbid them, for God’s Kingdom belongs to such as these.”
Read the story together
A short version of the story to read aloud before colouring, with questions to ask afterwards.
Some people brought children to Jesus so he could bless them. The disciples tried to send the children away, but Jesus saw what they were doing. He told the disciples to let the children come to him.
Jesus welcomed the children and made room for them beside him. He said that God's Kingdom belongs to people who receive it like a child. The children were not a bother or a distraction. Jesus wanted them near.
This story reminds us that children are important to Jesus. He welcomes them, listens to them, and invites them to come close.
Questions to ask
- Who is with Jesus?
- How many children can you count?
- What did Jesus tell his disciples about the children?
