Read the story together

A short version of the story to read aloud before colouring, with questions to ask afterwards.

The people building the tower all spoke the same language. Then they could not understand one another. The busy work stopped as people tried to speak and listen.

The people left the city and spread across the earth. They spoke different languages in the places where they settled. The city was called Babel because there the LORD confused the language of the earth.

The tower stayed unfinished. The story helps us remember that people can live in many places and speak many languages, while God knows and sees them all.

Questions to ask

  1. What do you see beside the people?
  2. Do the people understand one another?
  3. What happened to the people after they could not understand each other?
