Memory verse

“She gave birth to her firstborn son. She wrapped him in bands of cloth and laid him in a feeding trough, because there was no room for them in the inn.”

The story behind this colouring sheet

When Mary and Joseph arrived in Bethlehem, the town was packed with visitors. Every room was full. There was nowhere for them to stay!

Mary knew her baby would be born any time now. So they found a place where animals were kept, perhaps a stable or a cave.

It wasn't clean or comfortable, but it was a shelter. And it was there, among the animals, that Mary's baby boy was born.

Mary wrapped Him in strips of cloth to keep Him warm and snug, and laid Him in a manger — the box that animals eat their hay from. The King of the whole world was born in the humblest place you could imagine.

Talk about it

  1. Where did Mary lay baby Jesus to sleep?
  2. Why did Mary and Joseph have to stay with the animals?
  3. Jesus, the King of everything, was born in a simple stable. What does that tell us about Him?
