The story behind this colouring sheet

When Jesus was about six weeks old, Mary and Joseph took Him to the temple in Jerusalem to give thanks to God. They brought two doves as an offering.

In Jerusalem lived an old man called Simeon. He loved God, and God had promised him that he would not die until he had seen the Saviour.

That day the Holy Spirit led Simeon to the temple. As soon as he saw baby Jesus, he knew! He took the baby in his arms and praised God: "Now I can go in peace, for my eyes have seen your salvation — a light for all the nations."

Mary and Joseph were amazed at what Simeon said about their son.
