Read the story together
A short version of the story to read aloud before colouring, with questions to ask afterwards.
King Nebuchadnezzar made a very tall statue and set it up on a plain. He called the people together and told them to bow down to the statue when they heard music.
Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego were among the people in Babylon. They knew that they worshipped God, not a statue. They had to decide whether they would follow the king’s command.
This part of the story introduces the choice the three friends faced. They wanted to stay faithful to God, even when the king asked them to do something different.
Questions to ask
- What is standing on the plain?
- How many friends are looking at the statue?
- What choice did the king give the people?
