A short version of the story to read aloud before colouring, with questions to ask afterwards.
Jesus was travelling through Samaria and stopped to rest beside Jacob's well. A Samaritan woman came to draw water. Jesus asked her for a drink, which surprised her because Jews and Samaritans usually kept apart.
Jesus spoke with her about living water. He explained that the water he gives brings eternal life. The woman asked him for this water, though at first she thought he meant water that would keep her from becoming thirsty.
Jesus knew about her life and spoke with her kindly. She began to understand that he was a prophet and wondered if he was the Christ. She left her water jar and went to tell people in her town about him.
Questions to ask
- What was the woman carrying?
- What was the woman doing at the well?
- Why was the woman surprised that Jesus spoke to her?
