The story behind this colouring sheet
Hippos are huge, heavy animals that love to wallow in water and mud. Their name means "river horse".
When God gathered the animals for Noah's ark, two hippos came too. It might have been a bit of a squeeze getting them through the door!
Hippos spend most of the day in the water to keep cool, and come out at night to eat grass.
Every animal that breathes was kept safe on the ark — even the big, heavy, muddy ones!
Talk about it
- Are hippos big or small?
- Where do hippos like to spend their day?
- Why do you think God made so many different kinds of animals?
