About the story

Fifty days after Easter, Jesus' followers were together in Jerusalem when they heard a sound like a mighty rushing wind. Flames of fire rested on each of them, and they were filled with the Holy Spirit!

They began speaking in other languages, and a crowd from many countries gathered. Peter stood up and told them all about Jesus, and three thousand people believed that day.

The new believers met every day to learn, pray, share meals and share everything they had. Pentecost is often called the church's birthday.
