About the book of Jeremiah
Jeremiah was a prophet who lived about 600 years before Jesus was born. When God first called him, Jeremiah said he was too young, but God promised to be with him and to give him the words to say.
Jeremiah often used everyday things to explain God's messages. Once God sent him to watch a potter shaping clay, to show that his people were in God's hands just like clay in the potter's hands.
Later, when many people had been taken far away to Babylon, Jeremiah sent them a letter from God. It holds a promise that children love: God's thoughts towards us are "thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you hope and a future."
