About the story
Jesus went up a mountain and sat down to teach his disciples and the crowd. He spoke about showing mercy, making peace and doing what is right. He told his followers to let good actions shine like a lamp and to treat others as they wanted to be treated. Jesus taught the people how to pray and encouraged them to trust God for what they needed. He pointed to birds and flowers as reminders of God's care. He also told stories about two builders: one built on rock and one on sand. The wise builder's house stood firm because its foundation was strong. Jesus wanted the people to hear his words and live them out in everyday choices.
