Memory verse

“Therefore don’t be anxious for tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself. Each day’s own evil is sufficient.”
Matthew 6:34 · WEBBE

Read the story together

A short version of the story to read aloud before colouring, with questions to ask afterwards.

Jesus told the people not to be anxious about tomorrow. He had taught them to trust God for what they needed and reminded them that each day has its own concerns. Tomorrow would come in its own time. They could do today's work and leave tomorrow's worries for tomorrow. Jesus did not say life would have no problems. He showed that worry cannot add an hour to life. Instead, they could seek God's kingdom and care for the things in front of them today. We can make plans without carrying every future worry at once. Jesus' words invite us to trust God one day at a time.

Questions to ask

  1. Is the sun shining in the picture?
  2. What did Jesus say about worrying over tomorrow?
  3. What is one thing you can do today instead of worrying about the future?
