Memory verse

“Why are you anxious about clothing? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow. They don’t toil, neither do they spin,”
Matthew 6:28 · WEBBE

Read the story together

A short version of the story to read aloud before colouring, with questions to ask afterwards.

Jesus asked the people to look at flowers in the field. The lilies did not make clothes, yet they were dressed more beautifully than a king in his finest robes. The flowers grew because God cared for the world. Jesus reminded the people that flowers do not last forever. They bloom, then wither. If God gives such beauty to flowers, Jesus said, God will surely care for people too. He wanted his listeners to trust God instead of becoming anxious about what they would wear. We can notice flowers around us and remember that God cares for people.

Questions to ask

  1. What flower can you see?
  2. What did Jesus ask the people to look at?
  3. How did Jesus use the lilies to remind people that God cares for them?
