Read the story together
A short version of the story to read aloud before colouring, with questions to ask afterwards.
Jesus told his followers they were like a light for the world. A town on a hill cannot be hidden, and people do not light a lamp to cover it with a basket. They put it on a stand to brighten the room. Jesus wanted his disciples to let their good actions be seen. When people saw them helping others, they could praise God. The light was not a reason to boast; it helped everyone see. We can share, tell the truth, welcome someone who is left out and help at home. These small acts can brighten another person's day. The lamp helped people remember to do good openly.
Questions to ask
- What is shining in the picture?
- Where should a lamp be placed to light a room?
- What good action could you do this week to help someone?
