Read the story together
A short version of the story to read aloud before colouring, with questions to ask afterwards.
Jesus taught people to treat others as they wanted to be treated. If we want people to speak kindly to us, we can speak kindly to them. If we hope someone will help when we drop something, we can help when another person needs it. This teaching is often called the Golden Rule. It gives us a question to ask before we act: how would I like someone to treat me? Jesus' words remind us to show fairness and care. The people could use this lesson with family, neighbours and strangers. We can practise it when we share, take turns and notice what another person needs.
Questions to ask
- What are the children sharing?
- How could you help a friend who dropped something?
- How can asking how you would like to be treated help you choose what to do?
