Memory verse
“See the birds of the sky, that they don’t sow, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns. Your heavenly Father feeds them. Aren’t you of much more value than they?”
Read the story together
A short version of the story to read aloud before colouring, with questions to ask afterwards.
Jesus asked the people to look at the birds. They do not plant crops or store food in barns, yet they find what they need. Jesus reminded the crowd that God feeds them. People are worth much more than birds, so they could trust that God knew what they needed too. Jesus was not telling people to do nothing. He taught them not to be consumed by worry. People could work, care for one another and trust God with the rest. When we see a bird searching for food or building a nest, we can remember Jesus' lesson. God cares for the creatures he made, and for people too.
Questions to ask
- How many birds can you spot?
- What did Jesus say feeds the birds?
- What can seeing birds remind us about God's care?
