Jesus compared a person who listened to his teaching and followed it to a wise builder. The builder chose solid rock for the house's foundation. Rain fell, water rose and winds blew, but the house stood firm. Jesus said his followers should not only hear his words; they should do what he taught. A strong foundation is hidden beneath a house, but matters when a storm comes. In the same way, kind and honest choices help us build a life on Jesus' teaching. We can practise his words by forgiving, sharing fairly and making peace. The story reminded the crowd to put Jesus' teaching into action.
