Memory verse
“Everyone who hears these words of mine and doesn’t do them will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand.”
Read the story together
A short version of the story to read aloud before colouring, with questions to ask afterwards.
Jesus told a story about a builder who heard his words but did not put them into practice. Jesus compared him to a foolish builder who built a house on sand. Rain fell, water rose and winds blew against it. Because its foundation was loose, the house fell with a great crash. Jesus helped the people think about what they did with his teaching. Hearing good words was not enough; they needed to live them out. We can listen carefully and choose actions that match what we have learned, such as being honest, kind and helpful. The story made the lesson easy to picture.
Questions to ask
- What is the house standing on?
- What happened when rain and wind came?
- Why did Jesus compare listening without obeying to building on sand?
