A short version of the story to read aloud before colouring, with questions to ask afterwards.
Long ago, God's people, the Israelites, were slaves in Egypt. Pharaoh was afraid there were too many of them, so he gave a cruel order: every baby boy must be thrown into the River Nile!
One mother had a beautiful baby boy. She hid him for three months. When she couldn't hide him any longer, she made a plan.
She made a basket out of reeds and covered it with tar so it would float. She put her baby inside and placed the basket carefully among the reeds at the edge of the river. She trusted God to take care of him.
Questions to ask
- Where is baby Moses sleeping?
- Why did his mother put him in a basket?
- Moses' mother trusted God to keep her baby safe. Who do you trust to keep you safe?
