A short version of the story to read aloud before colouring, with questions to ask afterwards.
After many years of leading the Israelites, Moses climbed Mount Nebo. God showed him the land he had promised to Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. From the mountain Moses could see the Jordan Valley and the town of Jericho.
God reminded Moses that this was the land he had promised to give to his people. Moses would see it, but he would not cross the river with them. Joshua would lead the people into the land after Moses.
Moses had trusted God and cared for the Israelites through many difficult years. At the mountain, he could look out over the place where the people would live. God kept his promise and let Moses see the land with his own eyes.
Questions to ask
- What mountain did Moses climb?
- What town could Moses see from the mountain?
- Who would lead the Israelites into the land after Moses?
