Memory verse
“Moses made a serpent of bronze, and set it on the pole. If a serpent had bitten any man, when he looked at the serpent of bronze, he lived.”
Read the story together
A short version of the story to read aloud before colouring, with questions to ask afterwards.
The Israelites were travelling through the wilderness. They became impatient and complained to God and Moses. Venomous snakes came into the camp, and some people were bitten. The Israelites knew they had done wrong, so they asked Moses to pray for them.
God told Moses to make a bronze snake and put it on a pole. Anyone who had been bitten could look at the bronze snake and live. Moses made the snake just as God had said, and the people who looked at it were saved.
The bronze snake was a sign of God's help. Moses trusted God and did what he asked. The people looked up at the sign, and God kept them safe from the bites.
Questions to ask
- Who did the people ask to pray for them?
- What did Moses place on top of the pole?
- How did God help the people who had been bitten?
