The story behind this colouring sheet
When the angels had gone back into heaven, the shepherds said to each other, "Let's go to Bethlehem right now and see this thing the Lord has told us about!"
The Bible doesn't tell us how many shepherds there were, or how old they were. Shepherds in Bible times were often young — King David looked after his family's sheep when he was a boy.
Perhaps a young shepherd came along too, carrying a little lamb. How excited he would have been to see the baby the angels had sung about!
The shepherds didn't wait until morning. They hurried off straight away to find Jesus.
Talk about it
- What is the shepherd boy carrying?
- Did the shepherds wait until morning to go and find Jesus?
- If you could bring a gift to baby Jesus, what would you bring?
