About the story
On the night Jesus was born, shepherds were looking after their sheep in the fields outside Bethlehem.
Suddenly an angel appeared and God's glory shone all around them. "Don't be afraid," said the angel. "I bring you good news of great joy. A Saviour has been born!" Then the sky filled with angels singing "Glory to God in the highest!"
The shepherds hurried to Bethlehem and found baby Jesus lying in a manger, just as the angel had said. Then they went back to their sheep, telling everyone the news and praising God.
