About Elijah
Elijah was a prophet in Israel during the reign of King Ahab. During a drought, ravens brought him food beside a brook, and later he stayed with a widow in Zarephath. Elijah challenged the prophets of Baal on Mount Carmel and prayed for rain. He travelled to Mount Horeb and heard a quiet voice. Elisha became his companion and successor. At the end of Elijah's time as a prophet, he went up in a whirlwind while Elisha watched.
