“The ravens brought him bread and meat in the morning, and bread and meat in the evening; and he drank from the brook.”
Read the story together
A short version of the story to read aloud before colouring, with questions to ask afterwards.
Elijah was a prophet in Israel during a time when there was little rain. God told him to go to the brook Cherith. Elijah stayed beside the water, and ravens brought him food in the morning and evening. He drank from the brook. Elijah followed God's direction and waited there. The ravens carried bread and meat to him, and the brook gave him water. This quiet story shows Elijah beside the stream with birds bringing food. It happened before Elijah went to stay with a widow in another town.
Questions to ask
- What bird brought Elijah food?
- How many ravens can you see?
- Where did Elijah get water while he stayed by the brook?
