Memory verse
“When all the people saw it, they fell on their faces. They said, “The LORD, he is God! The LORD, he is God!””
Read the story together
A short version of the story to read aloud before colouring, with questions to ask afterwards.
Elijah gathered the people on Mount Carmel and repaired an altar to the Lord. He placed wood on it and had water poured over everything. Then Elijah prayed. Fire came down and consumed the offering, the wood, the stones and the water. When the people saw what happened, they bowed down and said that the Lord is God. Elijah had asked the people to turn back to God. The story describes a dramatic sign, but the colouring page can focus on Elijah beside the altar as he prays, with a few people watching from a safe distance.
Questions to ask
- What did Elijah repair?
- What did Elijah pour around the altar?
- What did the people say when they saw the fire?
