“On the seventh time, he said, “Behold, a small cloud, like a man’s hand, is rising out of the sea.” He said, “Go up, tell Ahab, ‘Get ready and go down, so that the rain doesn’t stop you.’””
Read the story together
A short version of the story to read aloud before colouring, with questions to ask afterwards.
After a long drought, Elijah told King Ahab that rain was coming. Elijah went to the top of Mount Carmel and prayed. He sent his servant to look toward the sea. The servant went and returned several times, seeing no cloud at first. On the seventh visit, he spotted a small cloud rising from the sea, about the size of a hand. Elijah sent word to Ahab to get ready before the rain arrived. Soon the sky grew dark with clouds, and a strong rain began. The little cloud was the first sign that the drought was ending.
Questions to ask
- Can you point to the little cloud?
- Who is pointing toward the sea?
- How many times did the servant look before he saw the small cloud?
