Memory verse
“The jar of meal didn’t run out and the jar of oil didn’t fail, according to the LORD’s word, which he spoke by Elijah.”
Read the story together
A short version of the story to read aloud before colouring, with questions to ask afterwards.
During the drought, God sent Elijah to a widow in Zarephath. When he reached the town gate, he asked her for water and a piece of bread. The widow had only a little flour and oil, enough to make one last meal for herself and her son. Elijah told her not to be afraid and asked her to make him a small loaf first. She did as he said. The flour in her jar and the oil in her jug did not run out. There was enough food for Elijah, the widow and her son throughout the drought.
Questions to ask
- What was in the widow's flour jar?
- Who ate the bread the widow made?
- What happened to the flour and oil during the drought?
