A short version of the story to read aloud before colouring, with questions to ask afterwards.
Abraham (who was first called Abram) lived with his wife Sarah in a city called Haran. One day God spoke to him: "Leave your country and your family and go to the land I will show you. I will bless you, and through you all the families of the earth will be blessed."
Abraham didn't know where he was going. But he trusted God. So he packed up everything (tents, camels, sheep and goats) and set off with Sarah and his nephew Lot.
It was a long journey, but God was leading them all the way to a land called Canaan.
Questions to ask
- What animals went on the journey with Abraham?
- Did Abraham know where he was going?
- Abraham trusted God even when he didn't know the way. When do you need to trust God?
