Read the story together
A short version of the story to read aloud before colouring, with questions to ask afterwards.
When Isaac was a boy, God tested Abraham. He told Abraham to take Isaac up a mountain to make an offering.
As they climbed, Isaac carried the sticks for the fire. "Father," he asked, "where is the lamb for the offering?" Abraham answered, "God will provide the lamb, my son."
Abraham trusted God completely. And on the mountain, God stopped him and showed him a ram caught by its horns in a bush. God had provided!
Abraham called that place "The Lord Will Provide". Many years later, God provided Jesus, the Lamb of God.
Questions to ask
- What animal was caught in the bush?
- What did Abraham say God would provide?
- Abraham called God "The Lord Will Provide". How has God provided for you?
