“He answered, “Don’t be afraid, for those who are with us are more than those who are with them.””
Read the story together
A short version of the story to read aloud before colouring, with questions to ask afterwards.
The king of Aram sent an army to surround the city where Elisha was staying. Early in the morning, Elisha's servant saw horses and chariots all around and became afraid. Elisha told him not to be afraid. He prayed that the servant's eyes would be opened. Then the servant saw the hills filled with horses and chariots of fire around Elisha. God's unseen army was there to protect them. Elisha remained calm and reassured his servant. The story describes what the servant saw after his eyes were opened. The horses and chariots filled the hills, while Elisha and his servant stood safely in the city.
Questions to ask
- Who was with Elisha on the hill?
- What did the servant see all around them?
- Why did Elisha tell the servant not to be afraid?
