Memory verse
“The man of God asked, “Where did it fall?” He showed him the place. He cut down a stick, threw it in there, and made the iron float.”
Read the story together
A short version of the story to read aloud before colouring, with questions to ask afterwards.
A group of prophets were building a larger place to live. As one man cut a tree near the Jordan River, the iron axe head came loose and fell into the water. He was distressed because the axe had been borrowed. He showed Elisha where it had fallen. Elisha cut a stick and threw it into the river. The iron axe head floated to the surface, and the man reached out and picked it up. The prophets had been working together, and Elisha helped the man recover the borrowed tool. The scene shows the river, a fallen axe head and a small stick floating beside it.
Questions to ask
- What fell into the water?
- Where did the axe head float?
- Why was the man worried when the axe head fell into the river?
