Memory verse
“Please, let’s make a little room on the roof. Let’s set a bed, a table, a chair, and a lamp stand for him there. When he comes to us, he can stay there.””
Read the story together
A short version of the story to read aloud before colouring, with questions to ask afterwards.
A woman from Shunem often welcomed Elisha when he travelled through her town. She and her husband decided to make a small room for him on their roof. They put a bed, a table, a chair and a lamp in it. Then Elisha would have a quiet place to rest whenever he came to visit. The woman wanted to help the prophet, and her husband helped prepare the room. Elisha was grateful for their kindness. This story shows a family making a welcoming place for a guest. Look for the four useful things they put in the room as you colour the picture.
Questions to ask
- What did the family put in the room?
- Who was the room prepared for?
- Why did the woman and her husband make a room for Elisha?
