Genesis 25:27 · WEBBE

Read the story together

A short version of the story to read aloud before colouring, with questions to ask afterwards.

Isaac and Rebekah had twin boys. Esau was born first, and Jacob came next, holding his brother's heel. The boys grew up with different interests. Esau became a skilful hunter who liked the open country. Jacob was quieter and stayed near the tents. Their father Isaac loved Esau, while Rebekah loved Jacob. The family lived in the land God had promised to Abraham and Isaac. The twins were brothers, but they did not always agree. Their story tells how God kept working through this family. As you colour the two brothers, you can notice how each one spent his days: Esau out in the fields, and Jacob close to home.

Questions to ask

  1. How many brothers were there?
  2. What did Esau enjoy doing outside?
  3. Where did Jacob like to spend his time?
