Memory verse
“He did that which was right in the LORD’s eyes, and walked in all the ways of David his father, and didn’t turn away to the right hand or to the left.”
Read the story together
A short version of the story to read aloud before colouring, with questions to ask afterwards.
Josiah was only eight years old when he became king of Judah. He ruled in Jerusalem for many years. The Bible says that Josiah did what was right in the Lord's sight and followed the example of King David.
Josiah did not turn away from the right path. He wanted to lead the people to follow God. Later in his reign, he arranged for workers to repair the Temple in Jerusalem. During that work, the priests found a scroll of God's law. Josiah listened carefully when it was read.
Josiah's story reminds us that a young person can choose to do what is right. God can help us listen, learn and make good choices, whatever our age.
