“Moses stretched out his hand over the sea”
Read the story together
A short version of the story to read aloud before colouring, with questions to ask afterwards.
Pharaoh changed his mind again! He sent his army with horses and chariots to chase the Israelites and bring them back.
The people were trapped. In front of them was the Red Sea, and behind them was Pharaoh's army. They were terrified!
But Moses said, "Don't be afraid. Stand still and watch how the Lord will save you today."
God told Moses to stretch out his hand over the sea. Moses did, and God sent a strong wind all night that pushed the water back. The sea split in two, and there was dry ground in the middle!
Questions to ask
- What did Moses hold up over the sea?
- What happened to the water?
- When you feel trapped or scared, what can you remember about God?
