Read the story together
A short version of the story to read aloud before colouring, with questions to ask afterwards.
Moses grew up in Pharaoh's palace. But when he was grown, he had to run away from Egypt.
He went to a land called Midian, where he married Zipporah and looked after the sheep of her father, Jethro.
For forty years Moses was a shepherd in the wilderness, leading the flock to find grass and water. It was quiet, simple work, far from the palace.
But God hadn't forgotten Moses, or His people in Egypt. One day, while Moses was out with the sheep near a mountain, something amazing happened.
Questions to ask
- What animals did Moses look after?
- How long was Moses a shepherd?
- God was getting Moses ready while he looked after sheep. What might God be teaching you now?
