Memory verse
““Again, the Kingdom of Heaven is like a dragnet that was cast into the sea and gathered some fish of every kind,”
Read the story together
A short version of the story to read aloud before colouring, with questions to ask afterwards.
Jesus compared God's kingdom to a large net thrown into the sea. The net gathered many kinds of fish. When it was full, fishermen pulled it to shore and sorted the fish into baskets. Jesus explained that the sorting in the story showed how things would be at the end of the age. The fishermen knew what to do with their catch: they kept the good fish and set aside the others. In this parable, Jesus helped people picture a familiar part of life beside the sea. The broad net filled with fish, and the fishermen brought it onto the beach to sort.
Questions to ask
- What did the fishermen pull from the sea?
- How many fish can you count in the picture?
- What happened when the fishermen brought the net to shore?
