Memory verse
“He set another parable before them, saying, “The Kingdom of Heaven is like a grain of mustard seed which a man took, and sowed in his field,”
Read the story together
A short version of the story to read aloud before colouring, with questions to ask afterwards.
Jesus compared God's kingdom to a tiny mustard seed. Someone planted the seed in a field, and it grew into a large plant. Birds came and rested in its branches. A mustard seed is very small, but the plant becomes much bigger. Jesus used the picture to show how something that begins small can grow. The people listening could imagine a little seed tucked into the ground and a leafy plant rising above it. Birds found a place among its branches. When you colour this page, look for the tiny seed and the much larger plant beside it.
Questions to ask
- Can you point to the tiny seed?
- How many birds are sitting in the plant?
- What did the mustard seed help Jesus explain about God's kingdom?
