“The LORD was with Joseph, and he was a prosperous man. He was in the house of his master the Egyptian.”
Read the story together
A short version of the story to read aloud before colouring, with questions to ask afterwards.
One day Joseph's father sent him to check on his brothers, who were looking after the sheep far away. When the brothers saw him coming in his special coat, they made a terrible plan.
They took his coat and threw him into an empty well. Then some traders came by with their camels, on their way to Egypt. The brothers sold Joseph to them!
Joseph was taken far away to Egypt and became a servant. It seemed like everything had gone wrong. But the Bible says, "The Lord was with Joseph." God had not forgotten him.
Questions to ask
- What animals did the traders ride?
- Where was Joseph taken?
- Even when bad things happened, God was with Joseph. How does that help us?
