Read the story together
A short version of the story to read aloud before colouring, with questions to ask afterwards.
Jacob had twelve sons, but Joseph was his favourite. To show how much he loved him, Jacob gave Joseph a very special coat: a beautiful long robe of many colours.
Joseph's older brothers saw the coat and felt jealous. Why should Joseph get special treatment? They became so jealous that they couldn't even say a kind word to him.
Jealousy is a horrible feeling, and it can make people do unkind things. As the story goes on, we'll see how God worked through it all.
Questions to ask
- What colours will you give Joseph's coat?
- Why were Joseph's brothers upset?
- Have you ever felt jealous? What can help when you feel that way?
