A short version of the story to read aloud before colouring, with questions to ask afterwards.
A Roman officer came to Jesus because his servant was sick and in great pain. The officer asked Jesus to heal him. Jesus offered to come to the house.
The officer said he was not worthy to have Jesus come under his roof. He believed Jesus could heal the servant simply by speaking. He explained that he understood how orders worked because he was a soldier and gave commands to others.
Jesus was amazed at the officer's faith. He told him to go home, because it would happen as he had believed. The servant was healed at that moment. The officer had trusted Jesus even from a distance.
Questions to ask
- Who was sick?
- Who was sick at the officer's home?
- Why did the officer believe Jesus could heal his servant from a distance?
