A short version of the story to read aloud before colouring, with questions to ask afterwards.
Jesus took Peter, James and John up a high mountain to pray. While they were there, Jesus' appearance changed. His face shone like the sun, and his clothes became bright white.
Moses and Elijah appeared and spoke with Jesus. The disciples were amazed. Peter wanted to make three shelters, one for Jesus, one for Moses and one for Elijah. A bright cloud came over them, and a voice from the cloud said, "This is my beloved Son. Listen to him."
The disciples fell down, but Jesus touched them and told them not to be afraid. When they looked up, they saw only Jesus. As they came down the mountain, he told them not to speak about what they had seen yet.
Questions to ask
- Who went up the mountain with Jesus?
- Which three disciples went up the mountain?
- What did the voice from the cloud tell the disciples to do?
