Memory verse
“Jesus said to them, “I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will not be hungry, and whoever believes in me will never be thirsty.”
Read the story together
A short version of the story to read aloud before colouring, with questions to ask afterwards.
After Jesus fed a large crowd, people came looking for him again. They remembered the bread he had given them, but Jesus taught them to seek more than food that would not last. He said, I am the bread of life. Whoever came to him would not be hungry, and whoever believed in him would not be thirsty. Jesus was using bread as a picture of the life he gives. Bread was part of everyday meals, so the people understood how much they needed it. Jesus wanted them to trust him and receive the life God offers. We can remember his words when we share a meal and thank God for food and for Jesus.
Questions to ask
- What food can you see?
- What did Jesus call himself?
- Why do you think Jesus compared himself to bread?
