Read the story together
A short version of the story to read aloud before colouring, with questions to ask afterwards.
Jesus' friend Lazarus had died, and his sisters Martha and Mary were grieving. When Jesus arrived, Martha went out to meet him. She told Jesus that Lazarus would not have died if he had been there. Jesus said that Lazarus would rise again. Martha knew that people would rise at the last day, but Jesus told her, I am the resurrection and the life. He asked if she believed this. Martha answered that she believed he was the Messiah, God's Son. Jesus spoke with her before going to the tomb. His words gave Martha hope in the middle of her sadness. The story reminds us that Jesus met people who were grieving and listened to them.
Questions to ask
