Memory verse
“Again, therefore, Jesus spoke to them, saying, “I am the light of the world. He who follows me will not walk in the darkness, but will have the light of life.””
Read the story together
A short version of the story to read aloud before colouring, with questions to ask afterwards.
Jesus told the people that he was the light of the world. He said that anyone who followed him would not walk in darkness but would have the light of life. People knew how difficult it was to find a path in the dark. A lamp helped them see where to walk and what was around them. Jesus used this picture to teach that he guides people toward life with God. His words were spoken in Jerusalem, where many people had gathered. We can remember this saying when we see a lamp or the morning light. Jesus invited people to follow him and learn the way he taught.
Questions to ask
- What is shining in the picture?
- What does a lamp help us do in the dark?
- What did Jesus mean when he said he was the light of the world?
