Read the story together
A short version of the story to read aloud before colouring, with questions to ask afterwards.
Paul called the sword of the Spirit the word of God. He used a soldier's sword as a picture of God's message, not as a command to hurt anyone. The Christians reading his letter could remember that God's words helped them know what was true and choose what was good. Paul wrote about armor that helped people stand firm in faith, and he also told them to pray. We can read Bible stories, listen to wise teaching and use kind words with others. The sword in Paul's picture reminds us of God's word. It is shown sheathed and at rest, because the scene is about learning and faith, not fighting.
Questions to ask
- What book is beside the sheathed sword?
- What did Paul call the sword of the Spirit?
- How can Bible teaching help you choose what is true and good?
