Read the story together
A short version of the story to read aloud before colouring, with questions to ask afterwards.
Jesus said that God blesses those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled. He used the feeling of being hungry or thirsty to describe how strongly people should want what is right. Righteousness means living fairly and following God's good ways. The crowd knew that everyone needs food and water. Jesus wanted them to care just as deeply about justice and goodness. Sharing a meal is one way to show care, but people can also speak up when something unfair happens. We can ask God to help us choose what is right and to keep working for it.
Questions to ask
- What are the children sharing?
- What does it mean to hunger for what is right?
- What is one unfair thing you could help make right?
