Read the story together
A short version of the story to read aloud before colouring, with questions to ask afterwards.
Jesus taught the crowd that God blesses people who show mercy. Mercy means noticing when someone needs care and choosing to help. Jesus said that merciful people would receive mercy. His listeners could picture someone offering a drink, helping a neighbour or forgiving a person who had done wrong. Mercy does not mean pretending that hurtful actions are harmless. It means responding with care and seeking help to make things right. Jesus' words invited the crowd to treat others with the kindness they hoped to receive. We can show mercy at home, at school and in our neighbourhood.
Questions to ask
- What is the child giving?
- What does it mean to show mercy?
- How can you respond with mercy when someone has made a mistake?
