Read the story together
A short version of the story to read aloud before colouring, with questions to ask afterwards.
Jesus said that God blesses people who are persecuted for doing what is right. He told his listeners that the Kingdom of Heaven belonged to them. Doing the right thing can sometimes be hard, especially if other people laugh or leave someone out. Jesus encouraged his followers not to give up on what was good. They could tell the truth, defend someone who was being treated unfairly and ask a trusted adult for help. The picture of a child welcoming someone into a game shows a small, peaceful way to stand up for what is right. We can choose courage and kindness when a friend needs support.
Questions to ask
- Who is being invited to play?
- What could you do if someone is left out?
- Why might it take courage to stand up for what is right?
