A short version of the story to read aloud before colouring, with questions to ask afterwards.
Jesus spoke to his disciples about loving one another. He told them to love others as he had loved them. Jesus had spent time with his friends, taught them, helped people and welcomed those who came to him. He wanted his disciples to care for each other in the same generous way.
Love can be shown in ordinary actions. We can listen when a friend has something to say, share what we have, help someone who is left out or offer comfort when a person is sad. Sometimes people disagree, but they can still speak respectfully and look for ways to make things right. Jesus' words give his followers a pattern for treating one another with care. A loving community is built each time someone chooses to notice another person's needs and respond kindly.
Questions to ask

- How could you show care to a friend today?
- What are some ways a group can make sure no one is left out?
